What is unique about my subject? I will be talking about how my family and I all gather on Christmas Eve every year. That part is pretty common, but what is unique about my family is that we have the same exact meal every year, and it only involves my family.

What does the subject “say” about life in this place and time? I like to think that my family and I are a really close family, closer than most families. As far back as I can remember, my grandparents have always went to my brother and I’s sporting events, and when some of my friends made a big deal about their grandparents attending, it was weird for me, because it was ordinary. I think this just shows how close my family actually is with one another. So when we gather for Christmas every year, it’s not a big deal to me, but to someone else it would be a big deal.

What do people normally experience, understand, or assume about this subject? I think that most people celebrate people with their family, but it might not mean as much to them as it does to me. Going to my grandparents house on Christmas Eve, is by far, my favorite part of the holidays.
